XTREME TRUCKING ACQUIRES ZERNICKE TRUCKING
Combination Offers Full Array of Flatbed, Specialized, Refrigerated and Van Freight Services
November 1, 2015
DE PERE, Wis.—Xtreme Trucking LLC announced today that it has acquired Zernicke Trucking Inc. of Abrams, Wis. The combination of the two established trucking companies will benefit transportation customers with access to a wider array of services to meet their unique needs, all in one place.
The acquisition occurred following a decision by Tom Zernicke, former owner of Zernicke Trucking, to retire from the trucking business.
“I am excited to welcome all Zernicke Trucking drivers and staff to our family,” said Travis Nelson, now full owner of Xtreme Trucking and Zernicke Trucking. “I founded my business on the idea that happy, dedicated drivers and staff provide superior customer service. I strongly believe this has helped us succeed through many challenges, including the recession, and continue to grow. I have great respect for our drivers and the value they provide to our transportation customers, and that is what our success is all about.”
Nelson stressed that no driver or staff reductions will occur as a result of the acquisition.
“Drivers and office staff of both companies will be needed,” he said, “And we’ll all work together to build a better future for customers and the company.”
Xtreme Trucking, founded by Nelson in 2007, delivers flatbed and specialized freight, such as steel, machinery, building materials, and oversized and heavy-haul loads, across North America. Zernicke Trucking, established in 1975, has experience in flatbed, refrigerated and van transportation across all 48 contiguous states.
Going forward, Xtreme Trucking will keep the Xtreme Trucking name and will bring all Zernicke flatbeds under this name. Zernicke Trucking will keep the Zernicke Trucking name for all van and refrigerated business. Together, the companies will have 55 power units and 80 trailers to offer Wisconsin manufacturers, large and small, needing on-time, reliable service at affordable rates.
Location Change Planned for Xtreme Trucking
One planned change will be a move for Xtreme Trucking’s operations from its current De Pere location at 711 Millennium Court to the Zernicke Trucking location at 2808 County Road EE in Abrams, on Highway 41.
“The Abrams location offers a larger building, more acres of land for parking and more driver amenities,” said Nelson. “This will be the biggest change, but it offers a lot of benefits for drivers and, in turn, our customers.”
The move to Abrams is expected to occur in December.
